The archipelago of Bocas del Toro is an amazing place for scuba diving. It has a main reef followed by smaller ones, that creates a beautiful underwater scenery. It is also bathed by warm waters with a calm sea. The diving season lasts all year long, but is better to go in the dry season- from February to April and from September to October- since the visibility is the best at those times of the year.
The colorful soft corals and sponges of this area, are home to a variety of marine life, such as cone snails , spider crabs, nudibranchs , nurse sharks , spotted eels, manta rays and large schools of snappers carangids, which patrol the boundaries of the reef.
Many of these healthy reefs descend gently to 18 meters / 60 feet.
Transportation from Sixaola to Bocas of the Toro (round trip from Costa Rica), departure taxes, tips, Panama travel taxes , lodging for two nights, breakfast, four dives, full diving equipment
We recommend to sleep on Thursday night in Puerto Viejo. We leave at 7:00 am from there towards Sixaola. We left our car in a secure parking lot at the border with Panama. Passing migration, a bus will be waiting to take us to Admiral town. This journey will take about 40 minutes. There, we will take a water taxi and, a half hour later, we´ll arrive at Bocas del Toro.
Our hotel is located 75 meters from the water terminal. Once installed in the hotel, we will go to the dive operation for the first 2 dives.
Non-divers will have a guide who will take them touring at Bocas del Toro.
Usually after the dives we go and have dinner together.
On Saturday at 8:00 am we do other 2 dives and after these, we go for lunch at a highly recommended place, such as Starfish Beach and enjoy the evening.
On Sunday we met at 10:00 am at the reception of the hotel in order to go together to the water terminal and return to Costa Rica. If there are no problems we will be at the border at noon.
