What are the differences between the NAUI and PADI scuba diving schools?

It is important to stress out that both NAUI and PADI diving schools belong to the WRSTC (World Recreational Scuba Training Council), which regulates and controls the tranining standards for all diving courses.  Being so, both diving schools meet a quality of learning and exceptional security.

For this same reason, both diving schools validate their courses one another, without the need for tests or extra pay. For example, if you took your Open Water Scuba Diver course at PADI, and for some reason want to register the Advanced Scuba Diver course at NAUI, you can do so without any problem or extra request.  You could even return to PADI to continue with the Rescue Scuba Diver course or vice versa. From there, both diving certifications are very similar and their difference is mostly related to personal preferences.

For example, many of our customers at Mundo Acuático ask about the PADI certification, because they saw it at the beaches or at social media, since PADI has a fairly high level of advertising; on the contrary, NAUI maintains a profile lower, and has certified more students because of personal references than because of the media.

Face-to face or online diving courses

An important difference between both scuba diving certifications is that NAUI only gives face-to-face courses since they focus more on a direct relationship between instructor and student. On the contrary, PADI has the great advantage that offers on-line diving courses and, so, if the student wishes to take the theoretical classes from his home or office, the PADI instructor will send the content of the course to his email and he only has to come to our classrooms to present a test and examination of his skills.

Naturally, each diving center will defend the school with which attest to its students, so we recommend you to search several sources of information, and most importantly, to not be carried away by the name or way to teach of a particular diving school.  It is best to focus on the instructor, his experience and passion for the sport, and ensure that he complies with the standards of his respective school teachings.
