Learn to dive this summer

Every year´s end, we set goals for the things we want to accomplish during the next year. Most of the time we plan to make sacrifices related to food, or we set a goal for saving money, lose weight or start an exercises routine.

But what if we set a goal for this 2020, that will give us immediate satisfaction, generate endorphins and, also, that we can do with friends and family?

This activity is called diving, and we are at the gates of Summer, the perfect time to practice it!

There is an immense number of people who dive in our country and we do not even realize it. We challenge you to take a small survey at your next meeting of friends or at work; the results will surprise you!

Diving is easy, safe, and gives us mental and physical health!

Although in Costa Rica we have all the natural conditions to practice diving, some people do not dare to look up for information about this relaxing sport,  because they have preconceived (and wrong) ideas, about it, for example:

  • To think it’s expensive. Let’s set aside this taboo! In Costa Rica we have the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, and none is extremely far from the Great Metropolitan Area. In addition,  most people have the habit of vacationing at the beach. We can simply sort out our income, so that, a couple of times a year, we can take advantage of those beach trips, and complement the vacation with the practice of diving. You probably haven’t tried it because you think you should pay a significant amount of money; but that’s not the case! Especially if you analyze that diving, in addition of being exciting and fun, is an investment for your body and mind.
  • Fear of the unknown. For centuries, great inventors have been making our lives more pleasant, allowing us to see landscapes and sceneries that take us out of the routine. One of those sceneries is the submarine world. We are all clear that we are not fish, we were not born fish and we will never be fish, but diving makes us feel like a fish for a while.

How can we start?

There are basic diving courses for beginners, and even diving courses for children, that allow us to access the practice of this amazing sport.

At the beginning of the diving course the person may feel a little strange, because she/he is doing something that his brain cannot assimilate immediately. The new diver has a hard time processing that he/she can stay underwater for a while, without the need to go up to breath. However, it’s only a matter of minutes before you start to feel comfortable.

It is important to underline that the diving student should not go directly to the sea without having first dived in a swimming pool. This way, after a good time of practice, he/she will feel totally comfortable and safe.

When the student enters the sea for the first time, she/he has already passed the pool session, already knows the diving equipment, knows the techniques of safe diving, the importance of the companion, the environment… I mean, he/she already feels like a fish.

Maybe before that first experience under the sea, you might feel a little anxious. This is completely normal, because you’re in an unknown world until now. But it’ll only take a few minutes for you to convince yourself that diving is your thing.

Today, more and more people are deciding to witness the wonders hidden in the seabed. If you want to know what lives underwater, don’t think about it too much and learn to dive!

Join the large group of divers, who after each dive, comes out with a big smile, stress-free and looking forward to diving again!!
